Nè petrolio nè carbone. L’energia del futuro sarà il sole. La frase non è di un attivista qualunque, ma di Carlo Rubbia, premio nobel per la fisica, intervistato da Repubblica.
Da alcuni mesi lo scienziato italiano è stato incaricato direttamente dal Ministro per l’Ambiente Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio di formare una task-force per la promozione e la diffusione delle nuove fonti rinnovabili “con particolare riferimento – come si legge nel decreto del ministro – al solare termodinamico a concentrazione”.

E subito Rubbia si è messo al lavoro e ha già fornito i primi risultati. Secondo i dati dell’Energy Watch Group, istituito da un gruppo di parlamentari tedeschi con la partecipazione di scienziati ed economisti, il confronto tra i dati forniti dal ministero riguardo il prezzo del petrolio e sulla produzione di energia a livello mondiale sono ben diversi da quelli elaborati dalla IEA, l’Agenzia internazionale per l’energia. La differenza sostanziale sta tra le previsioni e i dati effettivi.
In particolare la differenza si calcola sul prezzo del petrolio, ben al di sopra delle aspettative, che secondo le previsioni non sarebbe dovuto arrivare a quota 100 dollari al barile prima del 2030, mentre questa quota è stata ampiamente superata già all’inizio del 2008.
Un altro aspetto importante sta nella produzione. Secondo i dati della IEA la produzione doveva crescere fino al 2025, mentre quella valutata dal team di scienziati di Rubbia parla di una produzione pari ad un terzo di quella prevista. In parole povere il petrolio sta finendo. Ecco spiegato anche l’innalzamento del costo così imprevisto.

Ma in difficoltà c’è pure per quanto riguarda l’uranio. Durante la guerra fredda molte nazioni hanno richiesto molto uranio per la rincorsa alle armi nucleari, oltre che per la produzione di energia. Dagli anni ’90 la domanda ha superato di molto l’offerta, condizionata dall’esaurimento delle scorte naturali. Secondo le previsioni degli scienziati, questo metallo sarà esaurito tra 35-40 anni. “Non possiamo continuare perciò a elaborare piani energetici sulla base di previsioni sbagliate che rischiano di portarci fuori strada – ha dichiarato Rubbia – Dobbiamo sviluppare la più importante fonte energetica che la natura mette da sempre a nostra disposizione, senza limiti, a costo zero: e cioè il sole che ogni giorno illumina e riscalda la terra”.
Inoltre il costo delle centrali nucleari è eccessivo. Infatti per costruirle ci vogliono circa una decina di anni, e quando saranno terminate, l’uranio in natura sarà quasi terminato. Inoltre le scorie radioattive rimangono per sempre, e c’è sempre il problema di dove metterle, problema che si presentò 5 anni fa con le proteste in Basilicata. E poi c’è sempre il rischio esplosione, dato che, secondo un calcolo delle probabilità, c’è da aspettarsi un’esplosione di una centrale nucleare ogni 100 anni.
L’unica soluzione, illustrata dallo scienziato, sarebbe ricorrere al torio, al posto dell’uranio, perchè molto più disponibile in natura e soprattutto più pulito. E inoltre da esso non si possono costruire bombe atomiche.

Neanche il cosiddetto “carbone pulito” sarebbe un’alternativa buona. Infatti in questo caso le scorie di CO2 rilasciate dalla sua combustione andrebbero a finire sottoterra. L’anidride carbonica dura all’incirca 30 mila anni nel sottosuolo, con grossi rischi per la salute dei cittadini.
L’unica alternativa resta il solare. Per produrre l’energia che producono 15 centrali nucleari basterebbe installare pannelli per un’area equivalente al raccordo di Roma. Questa basterebbe per un terzo di tutta quella italiana.
Per ovviare ai momenti in cui non c’è il sole, si è inventato un sistema di “ingabbiamento” dell’energia solare chiamato “impianto solare termodinamico”, che distribuisce l’energia solo quando serve.

buongiorno o buonasera. Vi chiedo il recapito del Dottor RUBBIA Carlo in quanto desidererei acquisire delle informazioni non facilmente raggiungibili seguendo i canoni normali del mercato, visto che comunque ritengo la tecnologia e la scienza di Carlo RUBBIA certamente superiore a quella attualmente utilizzata dal mercato. Siccome sto cercando di brevettare una tipologia di casa particolare e cioè che sia sì in bio edilizia ma che comunque racchiuda tutti quei requisiti che solitamente non vengono ritenuti necessari e quindi utilizzati nella proggettazione della casa del futuro. Io parto dal presupposto che pannelli solari, fotovoltaici ecc. non sono l’unica soluzione utile da dover valutare per riuscire a completare con maturità e responsabilità un percorso efficiente di ecosostenibilità. Intendo dire al signor Carlo RUBBIA che a quella tecnologia bisognerebbe unire anche la tecnologia, del risparmio energetico vedi “TOTEM” oppure “POMPA DI CALORE IN GEOTERMIA” ecc., del risparmio di acqua vedi il sistema di depurazione e ricircolo delle acque. Rapportando tutte queste invenzioni e tecnologie a sistemi di fabbricazione innovative si potrebbe organizzare il vero risparmio energetico nelle case, nelle varie attività lavorative ecc.—///
