Google Timelapse è una nuova, fantastica trovata di Mr G che permette di avere sotto gli occhi i cambiamenti cui l’uomo ha sottoposto la Terra nell’arco di circa 3 decenni. La mappa completa del globo è navigabile tanto trascinando il cursore sulla miniatura in alto a destra dello schermo quanto digitando direttamente nella barra di ricerca superiore il nome della località di cui si vogliono osservare i vari mutamenti dal 1984 a oggi.
Google Landsat Annual Timelaps ci permette di avere un’idea dello scioglimento dei ghiacci, se si passa alla mappa globale o si direziona lo zoom verso le regioni più a nord del pianeta, ci permette di vedere come una città si è espansa e di notare quindi gli incrementi nell’inurbamento e nella cementificazione, permette anche ai naturalisti di vedere come determinate zone sono cambiate nel tempo, i ghiacci sulle montagne, i fiumi, i laghi. Tutto il mondo sotto l’obiettivo di Google, da Los Angeles alle piccole cittadine di provincia italiane.
Ancora una volta Google ci fornisce uno strumento spettacolare per poter osservare non solo il nostro pianeta, ma i cambiamenti cui questo va incontro per l’attività entropica, tanto a livello locale quanto a livello globale.
