In Italia la produzione di latte è in calo, l’import dall’estero è forte e la crisi è ora sotto gli occhi di tutti dopo la denuncia di Coldiretti. Si stima che siano ancora attive nel nostro paese circa 36 mila stalle, in grado di produrre 110 milioni di quintali di latte, quantità ormai non di troppo superiore a quella relativa alle importazioni, stimate in 86 milioni di quintali.
Il settore del latte in Italia è in crisi e i numeri denunciati dalla Coldiretti la confermano al di là di ogni dubbio. Si parla di una azienda chiusa ogni cinque dall’inizio della crisi economica e di 32 mila posti in meno. La Coldiretti se la prende in particolare con l’import: “per ogni milione di quintali di latte importato in più scompaiono 17 mila mucche e 1200 occupati in agricoltura”, denunciando inoltre come il latte venga sottopagato alla stalla. I rincari dei prezzi dal luogo di produzione allo scaffale di un ipotetico supermercato sono estremamente ampi: si parla del 328 per centoo per il latte fresco, con un meno 20% di remunerazione agli allevatori nell’ultimo anno senza che i prezzi finali calassero minimamente. Il prezzo del latte pagato agli alleatori è di circa 35 centesimi al litro secondo i dati Ismea, che arriva a 1,50 euro al litro al dettaglio nel caso del latte di qualità.
La crisi del latte in Italia è pertanto forte e a farne maggiormente le spese sono i produttori. Repubblica apre il suo articolo sul caso affermando “la vecchia fattoria non esiste più”, in realtà come è ben noto la vecchia fattoria non esiste più già da molto tempo (a parte in rarissimi casi e nelle pubblicità spudoratamente ingannevoli), e gli allevamenti per la produzione del latte non sono certo luoghi idilliaci, ma i dati riportati devono far riflettere: andare avanti con il latte importato non solo da Germania e Francia ma anche dalla Cina, non rappresenta certo un miglioramento, sotto qualunque punto di vista. Si deve considerare che su quattro cartoni di latte a lunga conservazione tre sono di provenienza straniera (discorso diverso per il latte fresco, come è facile immaginare), perlopiù relativa ai paesi dell’Europa orientale. Quali paesi di preciso, ci si chiederà: non è certo facile scoprirlo. Come giustissimamente sottolinea la Coldiretti “nessuno lo sa perché non è obbligatorio riportarlo in etichetta”, e purtroppo nuove norme sulle etichette in grado di garantire davvero la trasparenza di un prodotto ancora non arrivano. I bei discorsi sulla sicurezza alimentare non mancano mai di rimbalzare dai rappresentanti istituzionali ai media per poi giungere alle orecchie dei cittadini, ma purtroppo ancora di reale trasparenza sull’origine dei prodotti (per molti prodotti) non si può affatto parlare. Nel frattempo hanno già avuto luogo manifestazioni per attirare l’attenzione sul problema. In occasione di una manifestazione siciliana Alessandro Chiarelli ha dichiarato:
Dobbiamo con forza dire basta alle importazioni che distruggono le nostre produzioni. Un esempio su tutti: la Sicilia è al secondo posto tra le regioni che producono latte ovino e questo significa che contribuisce in modo significativo all’economia e alla tutela del territorio. Ma il nostro latte viene venduto in media a 80 centesimi al litro, nelle altre regioni oltre l’euro. È un sistema iniquo dove qualcuno guadagna a scapito degli allevatori.
La crisi del settore è innegabile: il Governo Renzi si muoverà in difesa del prodotto locale? Ancora al riguardo non vi sono certezze.
