Rimedi naturali contro le formiche: come liberarsene senza l’utilizzo di insetticidi chimici? La prima arma di cui munirsi è la pazienza, perché ovviamente i killer chimici agiscono più in fretta di quelli casalinghi e biologici e per eliminare gli insetti ed evitare che entrino in casa in fila indiana, specie d’estate quando teniamo porte e finestre spalancate, impiegando prodotti atossici, ci vorrà del tempo e più di un tentativo. Ma non demordiamo, come nella lotta alle zanzare, esiste più di un’alternativa e troveremo quella che fa al caso nostro e più efficace contro le nostre formiche.
I nostri lettori ci hanno consigliato, tempo fa, alcuni metodi collaudati: foglie di alloro e borotalco da spargere in diversi punti; il limone; i fondi della macchinetta del caffè. Approfondiamo sull’uso del limone come deterrente: se ad essere infestate dalle formiche sono le piante il succo di limone può essere applicato sulle foglie a patto che non si tratti di piante a foglia pelosa. Lo detestano. Su balconi e davanzali possiamo invece creare delle vere e proprie barriere con limoni o altri agrumi ammuffiti che ostacoleranno la marcia degli insetti verso casa nostra.

Altro rimedio naturale contro le formiche è il sale grosso. E ancora, la polvere di carbone mescolata con segatura di legno.
Ricordate l’insetticida alle ortiche che ci segnalò un lettore tempo fa? E’ un trucco utile anche in questo caso ma non nell’orto.
Ecco altre due ricette di insetticidi atossici contro le formiche:
- il decotto di menta: preparato con 100 grammi di foglie messe a bollire in mezzo litro di acqua, fatto raffreddare, filtrato e voilà già pronto da usare sul terrazzo ma anche in casa perché ha un buon odore per noi bipedi!
- il decotto di canfora: preparato con 300 gr. di foglie per un litro di acqua, con l’aggiunta di qualche grammo di sapone di Marsiglia. Da spruzzare, una volta filtrato, direttamente sulle aree infestate dalle formiche.
Tra le piante da coltivare in giardino il cui odore infastidisce le formiche segnaliamo l’aglio, il crescione, l’erba cipollina, il garofano, la lavanda, la maggiorana, il nasturzio. Per catturare le formiche una spugna imbevuta di acqua e zucchero sarà per loro come il miele per gli orsi! Le ritroverete tutte attaccate ed a quel punto dovrete buttare via la spugna e metterne un’altra, ovviamente utilizzate vecchie spugne che avreste dovuto buttare. E poi c’è la soluzione più estrema che ammetto un po’ mi dispiacerebbe usare, ovvero agire direttamente alla radice, attaccando il formicaio se lo individuiamo. Bisogna coprire l’ingresso con un vaso completamente chiuso, senza alcun foro per intenderci o via d’uscita, versare acqua bollente intorno al vaso ed aspettare che le formiche escano per via del calore crescente. A quel punto capovolgendo il vaso le troveremo tutte rifugiate lì dentro e avremo davanti due opzioni: riversare acqua bollente nel vaso o portare il vaso lontano lontano dall’ingresso di casa nostra, risparmiando le formiche.
