L’invenzione di Moser si è diffusa fino a illuminare 1 milione di case (come riporta il Daily Mail). Alcuni in realtà potrebbero aver sentito parlare di questa soluzione come della Solar Bottle Bulb: è stata definita così nel progetto “Un litro di luce” che ha visto le lampadine (per così dire) create con bottiglie d’acqua e candeggina illuminare migliaia di abitazioni a Manila, nelle Filippine.
Stiamo sempre parlando dello stesso concetto: come ebbe modo di spiegare Alfred Moser, l’idea si basa sulla rifrazione della luce. Affinché la bottiglia d’acqua e candeggina funzioni come fonte di illuminazione è sufficiente fissarla in un foro del tetto e chiuderla ermeticamente lasciando metà della bottiglia all’esterno e metà all’interno. Il risultato è stupefacente: ogni bottiglia, a seconda delle condizioni di soleggiamento, equivale a una lampadina dai 40 ai 60 watt. Ma non consuma alcuna energia.
Come Moser sottolineò in un’intervista a BBC World Service, “è luce per tutti“. Non costa nulla, non ci si può prendere la scossa. Come risulterà ovvio è particolarmente utile in caso di abitazioni o altre strutture con tetto in lamiera dove la luce delle poche finestre non basta, o dove finestre non ve ne sono affatto. Ovvero, è un’invenzione rivoluzionaria per alcune delle zone più povere del pianeta. In Brasile e nelle Filippine il suo successo è crescente, ma potrebbe naturalmente estendersi ulteriormente, data la risonanza mediatica sempre maggiore tributata all’invenzione.
