Dopo l’ultimo rapporto di Greenpeace sulla salute delle acque dell’Oceano Antartico e la scoperta dell’ennesima isoletta galleggiante di buste di plastica, e rifiuti del progresso, la società svedese Electrolux propone un’idea alquanto interessante e provocatoria: trasformare la plastica raccolta negli in Oceani in aspirapolveri.
Gli elettrodomestici sostenibili non saranno venduti, ma verranno messi in bella mostra nelle vetrine dei negozi con il solo scopo di sensibilizzare- chi ancora non lo fosse- alle tematiche ambientali e ai danni provocati dall’inquinamento da plastica.
I dati raccolti da Greenpeace rivelano che ogni anno produciamo 10 milioni di tonnellate di imballaggi e plastica e ben il 10% di essi finiscono in mare. Come dichiara Cecilia Nord, vicepresidente della società Electrolux,
Esistono delle isole di plastica, alcune volte molto grandi di dimensioni pari addirittura allo stato del Texas, che galleggiano nei nostri oceani eppure, a terra, si lotta per entrare in possesso di sufficienti materie plastiche riciclate per soddisfare la domanda di aspirapolveri sostenibili
L’eco-progetto dell’azienda svedese vuole anche mettere in evidenza come con il riciclaggio si possano produrre elettrodomestici sostenibili e far fronte alla sempre maggiore domanda di materie prime per produrre plastica, rispetto all’enorme quantità di rifiuti inutilizzati. Finora è stato accertato che le isole di spazzatura che galleggiano nei nostri mari sono cinque, ma dal recente monitoraggio di Greenpeace è emerso che anche nel Polo Nord si sta formando un agglomerato di rifiuti, di plastica soprattutto, che con molta probabilità si trasformerà nell’ennesima isola di rifiuti.
Il progretto dell’azienda del Nord Europa è detto Vac from the sea, e vede all’opera centinai di persone che raccoglieranno pezzetti di plastica dalle acque del Mediterraneo, dell’Oceano Pacifico, dell’Atlantico e dell’Oceano Indiano. La campagna di raccolta prevede anche una tappa lungo la costa occidentale della Svezia, a largo di Bohuslan nel Mare del Nord e nello Skagerrak, dove la quantità di rifiuti galleggianti mette a repentaglio l’habitat marino e costiero della provincia svedese. Solo in questo tratto di costa ogni anno finiscono 20 mila tonnellate di rifiuti, oggi stimati in circa 5.000 metri cubi di isolotti galleggianti.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
