Dove sono i raccoglitori di pile esauste? Batterie scariche e pirati della spazzatura

L’UE produce più di un milione di tonnellate di batterie all’anno, molte delle quali contengono sostanze chimiche pericolose come il piombo e il cadmio. Solo la metà delle batterie acquistate dai consumatori finisce nel circuito dei rifiuti, ed è stato eliminato, quindi, in inceneritore o in discarica. Forse perché alcuni neanche sanno dell’esistenza delle discariche di raccolta delle batterie, o purtroppo alcuni paesi, specialmente al Sud, non sono neanche provvisti… Le batterie scariche devono essere gettate negli appositi raccoglitori che dovrebbero x legge essere situati in ogni comune e citta’ e posizionati in luoghi accessibili e facilmente identificabili. Se nel posto in cui viviamo non esistono, è bene presentarsi in circoscrizione e denunciare l’omessa posizionatura dei raccoglitori di pile esauste per la raccolta differenziata.


Quanti consumatori del mercato globale sanno che dai cellulari vecchi alle batterie scariche, i nostri rifiuti tossici finiscono nelle discariche ma soprattutto ora sono sempre più dirette verso le discariche del mondo, e cioè i paesi poveri, contaminandone l’ambiente? Se vengono bruciate, le batterie sprigionano sostanze che concorrono all’inquinamento atmosferico e che lasciano tracce pericolose nei residui del processo di termovalorizzazione. Se vengono eliminate in discarica, le stesse sostanze chimiche possono fuoriuscire, contaminando l’ambiente locale. Quanti sanno che si tratta di un’ attività illegale, un business multimiliardario che coinvolge tutti i paesi industrializzati? Chi fisicamente gestisce questo disgustoso commercio è una nuova generazione di fuorilegge della globalizzazione: i pirati della spazzatura. I paesi del Nord del mondo hanno deciso di liberarsi di questi rifiuti perché decontaminarli secondo le norme dell’Ue costa più di 1000 dollari a tonnellata. Ecco perché gran parte dei rifiuti tossici, ovvero batterie ma anche cellulari e computer, finiscono spesso in Africa…

  40. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
