Buono per te, sostenibile per l’ambiente è l’evento organizzato da Legambiente e Barilla, un villaggio interattivo dedicato all’alimentazione ed alla sostenibilità, in piazza san Giovanni, a Roma, dal 5 al 7 novembre. Una tre giorni che pone l’accento, ancora una volta, sul tema, è proprio il caso di dirlo, evergreen, della salubrità della dieta mediterranea, un modello alimentare che contrasta numerose patologie, meritevole di essere esportato all’estero come arma efficace contro il dilagare dell’epidemia dell’obesità, soprattutto quella infantile.
Si torna a parlare di doppia piramide, dove doppio è da leggersi alimentare e ambientale, riproponendo lo schema sempre valido elaborato dagli esperti del Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition. I cibi locali, freschi e genuini fanno bene all’organismo, rappresentano un elisir di lunga vita e, a conti fatti, sono anche quelli a minor impatto ambientale.
Nell’ambito della sessione organizzata dall’Inran, l’Ente pubblico per la ricerca in materia di alimenti e nutrizione, dal titolo La dieta mediterranea come esempio di dieta sostenibile, Giuseppe Maiani, ricercatore Inran e curatore del progetto Biovita: biodiversità e dieta mediterranea, ha sottolineato come i benefici per la salute della dieta mediterranea derivino dalla presenza
di molecole protettive in quantità maggiore negli alimenti non trattati rispetto a quelli commerciali. E’ stato dimostrato che il consumo di prodotti tipici della dieta mediterranea riduce il rischio di malattie cardiovascolari ed il tasso di obesità.
La maglia nera va alla carne rossa, seguita dai formaggi e dal pesce. Moderarne il consumo significa aiutare l’ambiente e preservare la salute, evitando molte malattie.
Al terzo posto troviamo la carne bianca e i dolci. Al centro della piramide ci sono i legumi, la pasta, i biscotti, l’olio d’oliva, il latte, lo yogurt, il riso e le uova. In basso, ovviamente, frutta e verdura, da consumare a go go, dato l’impatto minimo sull’ambiente ed i mille benefici per il benessere dell’organismo.
Nell’anno internazionale della biodiversità, si è tenuto a sottolineare come la dieta mediterranea sia un patrimonio inestimabile di biodiversità alimentare. Lo ha ricordato Vanessa Pallucchi, responsabile nazionale scuola e formazione Legambiente spiegando come il modello alimentare mediterraneo sia
riconosciuto come una grande risorsa e noi siamo fortunati perché viviamo in un paese che ci offre una varietà di cibi.
