Eccoci con il consueto appuntamento di inizio mese: cosa mettiamo nel carrello a giugno? Tanta buona frutta e verdura perché con la bella stagione aumentano i colori e i sapori della natura e, tra macedonie di frutta e verdure grigliate c’è solo l’imbarazzo della scelta! Da giugno si assiste ad un trionfo di colori e di sapori per la frutta e la verdura. Va bene mettere nel carrello in questo mese: mirtilli e lamponi, frutti di bosco e fragoline, fragole, albicocche, fichi, pesche, prugne, susine e ciliegie.
Si cominciano a trovare nei supermercati e nei banconi dei rivenditori di frutta e verdura anche i primi meloni, ma non sono ancora saporiti e buoni come quelli raccolti nel mese di luglio. Tra la verdura e gli ortaggi di stagione vi sono: bietola da coste, carote, lattuga e rucola, piselli e spinaci, zucchine e gli squisiti fiori di zucca, fagiolini e patate. Inoltre tra le spezie e le piante per condimenti si raccolgono: aglio, cipolla, basilico, erba cipollina, prezzemolo e sedano.
Per chi ama passeggiare nei boschi e fare trekking, in questo mese è possibile raccogliere gli asparagi e alcune varietà di funghi. Non dimentichiamo le buone pratiche per l’orto in terrazzo o in giardino. Nel mese di giugno si seminano all’aperto diverse varietà di verdura: la bietola, il finocchio, la carota, le zucchine, i fagioli, i fagiolini e il prezzemolo. Quotidianamente vanno cimati i pomodori, le angurie e i meloni. Cimare, nel gergo del buon contadino, vuol dire togliere i germogli che crescono tra il fusto principale della pianta e le ramificazioni. Questa operazione è necessaria per rinforzare la pianta ed evitare che “sprechi energia” nel far crescere troppi germogli o rametti laterali al fusto. Un’altra operazione da fare nel mese di giugno è mettere dei sostegni alle piante per farle sviluppare meglio e per facilitare la raccolta dei loro frutti. Generalmente si usano per sostegni di pomodori, melanzane, zucche, piselli, zucchine rampicanti, fagioli e fagiolini delle canne o del bambù, inoltre per le piante rampicanti occorre anche una rete di plastica a maglie larghe.
