La Germania e la Svizzera hanno avviato un processo di uscita dal nucleare, il Giappone pochi giorni fa ha spento la sua ultima centrale. Ma se si sperava che il mondo stesse uscendo dalla forma energetica più pericolosa, è il caso di ricredersi. La Gran Bretagna, che oggi ha poche ma importanti centrali nucleari, ha annunciato che nei prossimi anni ne verranno costruite altre 10. Anche contro il volere della popolazione che poche settimane fa aveva protestato per chiedere di non costruirne più e chiudere quelle che già ci sono.
Il motivo è duplice. Prima di tutto la scelta è stata presa per “mantenere le luci accese”. E’ stata utilizzata esattamente quest’espressione per confermare la volontà di avere una certa sicurezza energetica; al contempo però c’è la necessità di uscire dalle fonti fossili inquinanti, in particolar modo dal carbone. Evidentemente, nonostante il Governo britannico creda molto nelle rinnovabili, non se la sente di affidarsi completamente a quella fonte energetica.
Immediate le proteste della società civile, e vorremmo porre in evidenza l’obiezione fatta dagli economisti di sua Maestà la Regina, i quali hanno fatto i conti in tasca al nucleare e reso evidente che forse non è così conveniente. Secondo i loro calcoli infatti, una centrale ex novo oggi costa 6 miliardi di sterline, circa 7 miliardi e mezzo di euro. Ma questo costo sale di circa il 15% l’anno. Ed una centrale nucleare non si costruisce di certo in pochi mesi. Per questo c’è bisogno dei finanziamenti statali. Ma l’assurdità di tutta questa vicenda è che, a quanto pare, la coalizione di Governo che ha annunciato la volontà di aprire le centrali ha anche affermato che non ci sarà una sola sterlina pubblica, ma il progetto sarà completamente finanziato dai privati, per tenere a bada l’opinione pubblica.
Siamo curiosi di sapere quale privato se la sente di investire tutti questi soldi in un pozzo senza fondo come una centrale nucleare. Per questo, secondo gli analisti, non sarà possibile andare avanti in questo senso senza i finanziamenti pubblici, e prima o poi lo Stato farà la sua parte, scatenando di conseguenza l’ira dei britannici.

c’è british energy che ne vuole fare 4, poi c’era horizon nuclear power, una JV fra E.ON ed RWE, ma per le grandi perdite economiche in patria dovute alla decisione della germania, hanno dovuto rinunciare (solo E.ON ha licenziato 10.000 dipendenti e tutte e due hanno diminuito gli utili di oltre il 30%)
al comando di quella JV ci saranno altri candidati mondiali, in lizza, fra i maggiori, ci sono exelon e rosatom
