Le pellicce oggi sono completamente nonsense. Se un tempo, tanti e tanti anni fa, nelle tribù ataviche erano in qualche modo giustificate dal doversi coprire in climi gelidi, in mancanza d’altro, le signore coperte di volpi, visoni ed ermellini che girano in centro sentendosi chic certo non stanno vestendo il loro istinto di sopravvivenza, quanto piuttosto saziando una vanità macchiata di sangue.
Dire no alle pellicce, preferendo il sintetico, non equivale soltanto a difendere il diritto alla vita degli animali barbaramente uccisi per soddisfare il capriccio delle donne bene, disposte a pagare migliaia di euro e ad alimentare un mercato crudele, oggi sappiamo che vale molto di più ed è un gesto ecofriendly in senso lato.
Eh già perché un recente studio realizzato da Ce Delft ha calcolato l’impatto ambientale della produzione di pellicce e i dati non sono affatto confortanti.
Il rapporto denominato The environmental impact of the fur production è stato diffuso in Italia dalla LAV, la Lega AntiVivisezione in occasione dell’apertura della Settimana della moda 2011 a Milano.
Il commercio di prodotti tessili di largo consumo ovvero lana, cotone, acrilico e poliestere ha un impatto nettamente inferiore sull’ambiente del commercio di pellicce animali. La pelliccia, dunque, non è né un prodotto etico né un prodotto ecologico.
Pensate che per produrre un kg di pelliccia di visone sono necessarie 11, 4 pelli di visone. Un singolo visone, nella sua breve vita, consuma 50 kg di cibo. Facendo due conti, per produrre un kg di pelliccia occorrono 563 kg di cibo.
Nella fase di concia, poi, si usano sostanze tossiche e cancerogente come la formaldeide, il cromo e la naftalina, anch’esse con il loro impatto ambientale non certo trascurabile
Rispetto agli altri tessuti più comuni, la pelliccia ha impatti da 2 a 28 volte più elevati, tranne che per il consumo d’acqua, in cui il cotone è più dispendioso.
Rispetto alla lana, 1 kg di pelliccia di visone ha effetti ambientali sul cambiamento climatico di 4,7 volte superiori, derivanti sia dall’alimentazione dei visoni che dalle emissioni provocate dalle deiezioni (monossido di azoto ed ammoniaca).
Per Simone Pavesi, responsabile nazionale LAV settore pellicce, le imprese che operano nel settore della moda devono arrivare ad una progressiva ma rapida dismissione dell’uso delle pellicce animali. Dal canto suo, il cittadino-consumatore deve seguire, nelle decisioni d’acquisto,
un comportamento responsabile per il rispetto degli animali, dell’ambiente e di se stessi: la pelliccia animale è un prodotto da bandire non solo sul piano etico perché condanna a morte milioni di animali, ma anche per il bene dell’ambiente.
